Stirling Fringe 2017 - 2022

The event: Stirling Fringe launched in 2017, bringing a hand-picked taste of Adelaide Fringe to the heart of the Adelaide Hills. Set on the Coventry Library Lawns in Stirling and centred around Bamboozled's boutique venue The Pocket, the festival ran across the Adelaide Fringe season with programming that shifted from family-friendly by day to adult entertainment after dark. It later evolved into Fringe in the Hills, running every year from 2017 through to 2022.

What we did:

We built Stirling Fringe from the ground up and ran it as a true one-stop production - managing every part of the event end to end, year on year.

  • Curated a diverse, hand-picked program of theatre, cabaret, comedy, music, dance, spoken word, visual arts and children's theatre from the Adelaide Fringe lineup

  • Designed and built the site and venue each year, including The Pocket, Bamboozled's custom canvas performance tent

  • Managed the full bump-in and bump-out of the festival

  • Ran all staffing across bar, security and general event crew

  • Coordinated all associated contractors, including cleaning, waste removal and suppliers

  • Secured and managed event sponsors

  • Held the event licence, indemnifying council of public liability and liquor licensing risk

  • Delivered the full marketing campaign, from paid advertising and printed programs to publicity and social media, driving awareness across the Adelaide Hills and beyond

  • Ran the Box office and associated staff

Event impact:

Stirling Fringe grew into a true Adelaide Hills institution, running for six consecutive years and becoming one of the region's most anticipated annual events. Year on year, the festival created a genuine economic injection into the local community, employing artists, technicians, bar staff and event crew, and engaging local food and beverage vendors throughout its run. It put the Adelaide Hills on the map during Adelaide's Mad March, drawing visitors to Stirling and showcasing the region as a vibrant, creative destination, a reputation it carried right through its evolution into Fringe in the Hills.

Testimony

The AHC has nothing but praise for the event, which successfully took on board our desire to see our region celebrated as a stand-out feature of the festival hub. We are proud of our association with Stirling Fringe and hope it grows to establish itself as an annual event on the Adelaide Hills arts and cultural calendar.

Ebony Priest, Communications and Event Officer, Adelaide Hills Council
